It’s that time of year once again! Surface fishing action is picking up with Calico bass biting the iron, plastics and the live fin bait.
Big bruiser Yellowtail have been hitting the deck or breaking tackle with reports of some up to around 45lbs! You are going to need to bring the 40#-50# set up if you want to turn these fish around before they hit the rocks. The yellowtail have been hitting on both the dropper loop with live squid and on the yo-yo iron.
The overnight and multi-day trips have been hitting the White Seabass as well this week, finding those fish, generally during the early morning, on the squid beds.
The Lingcod and Rockfish quality has also stayed consistent amongst the fleet with great mixed bags. It’s suggested one might want to go out with at least one 16oz torpedo, because you never know when a Captain might want to try a new deep rock pile with the new depths.
