Channel Islands Sportfishing Fish Report for April 30, 2017

Channel Islands Fish Report:

After the week off at Channel Islands Sportfishing, primarily due to high winds, we resumed our fishing on Saturday. Rock fishing was outstanding but a short week to say the least!

So, because of the constant winds the water temperatures dropped considerably. The East Santa Barbara Channel surface temperatures are 50 degrees, while it’s only 2 degrees warmer at Anacapa Island.

No sign of the game fish we had been “picking” at, but the bottom fishing was outstanding both Saturday and Sunday. Seems the Rockfish, Lingcod and especially the Whitefish like, the cold water because they were biting like crazy!

Even our bigger boats that carry heavy loads were able to catch their limits. Not an easy task when you have 50+ anglers on board. Hats off to our captains and crews for putting up some outstanding numbers!

Hopefully, this upcoming weeks forecast is right because it looks absolutely beautiful. We will be running full speed, trying to get back on track and recover from virtually an entire week off.

This weeks Whoppers:

1) Matt Hugo from Bakersfield caught a 15lb Lingcod on an overnight trip aboard the Pacific Islander at Santa Rosa Island.

2) Greg Sata from Oxnard caught a 12lb Sheephead on an overnight trip aboard the Seabiscuit at San Miguel Island.

3) Brady Parr from Bakersfield caught a 13lb Lingcod on a 3/4 day trip aboard the Erna B at Anacapa Island.

We have trips scheduled to depart daily. https://ciscos.fishingreservations.net/sales/
