Ranger 85 –  April 13/14 2013 2 Day Trip Outer Channel Islands Deep Sea Fishing Trip

This past weekend 32 anglers headed south to San Nicolas Island. This is an annual trip with the same group of guys for the past 8 years. No matter what the conditions, we always have a good time.
Recalling last year, we had challenging conditions on the first day and it appeared as if this year was going to be a mirror image of that trip with high winds forecast in the western channel.
We decided to head south and stay out of the weather.
It was a good move.
Now, fishing San Nicolas smack in the middle of the CCA, we are restricted to a max depth of 120 feet. This did not matter, as the fish were on the chew.
We scaled back on our tackle and fished shallow water style and put together a quality catch for all onboard.
The sheephead were out in force as well as nice reds and chucks. Even a few calico were swarming around eager to feed.
We spent one of the most relaxing nights at sea on Saturday evening as all onboard were tired…we fished till dark.
Looking forward to next season when we will all be together offshore once again.
Hats off to Ben and Nick for organizing…Mercy always good to see you. Roy, you and your crew that drive all the way down from the Bay area…we do appreciate it…Rodger and the rest of your guys…good times. Chuck, great way to spend your birthday and Ken…log jammer…this is our first of many trips this year.
Enjoy the pics,
