Pacific Islander Fishing Santa Rosa Island – June 2, 2012

June 2, 2012

The load of passengers for this trip was only 1 short of a full load (29).  Weather was very nice last night as we were able to run straight across to the Islands without any bumpy ocean conditions to hold us back. Once we arrived at the lee side of Santa Cruz, some squid was located for our passengers willing to snag some for bait later in the morning.  It was very smooth traveling to our destination of Santa Rosa Island.  Anchored up at the known sea bass haunt and a few more squid were snagged, yet no luck on the elusive grey ghost.  With the weather forecasted to be very nice again for the most part of the day we made our way to the west to try our hand at rockfish.  Cluster Point did not want to give up her bounty very easily, we managed a handful of quality reds and chucks before heading back around to South Point area of Santa  Rosa due to mediocre fishing reports from the north side of the island.  We did not capture full limits of fish but ended up close and the fish we had were quality ones with 10 nice lingcod to round out the day.  All in all fun was had by our numerous regular passengers as well as the new faces aboard.  We are out again tomorrow to try once again.  There is lots of life around and the water is warming up.

We look forward to seeing you on the water.

Till next time.
